The mission of SexGenLab is to translate and disseminate knowledge about
sexuality and gender to people outside as well as within the academy. Our
work positions the most cutting-edge sexuality and gender research beyond
problems, risks and minimization and towards resistance, strength and well
being to be leveraged for social justice and human rights. Our tagline is
“Critical Knowledge for Critical Times.” We create multiple forms of
content on the sexgenlab.org website and share through social media.  We
use social media to build and engage audiences for these critical
perspectives on gender and sexuality, issues as well as to drive traffic to
our website resources.

All applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills,
general research and office skills, be detail-oriented, and be interested
in gender and sexuality issues and critical perspectives (i.e., feminist,
queer, intersectional, etc.). Applicants should also have the ability to
think creatively and implement new ideas and strategies. All applicants
must be able to work independently and also as part of a team.  The
internship satisfies General Elective credits in the 120 credit degree. If
successful, ideally positions would be extended into the Fall and/or Spring
terms.


*DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP *

*Description *

We are seeking  a talented, creative self-starter for the *Digital and
Social Media internship* at sexgenlab.org. The intern will report to the
Director of Media and the Director of SexGenLab, and will collaborate
closely with the Website Team to participate in the organization’s new and
ongoing initiatives on digital and social media platforms. The intern will
work 10 hours per week and will post on social media multiple times per day.

*Requirements*

Applicants should have experience and confidence in using digital
technologies and working across social Web platforms such as Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, YouTube, Tik Tok and Vimeo. The
intern should have the ability to multi-task and work independently without
micromanagement, but also be a good teamplayer. Familiarity with basic Web
design and development concepts, tools (e.g. Wiks; WordPress), and Adobe
Creative Suite applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Premiere)
is a plus.

*Duties and Responsibilities*

●      Generate, edit, publish and share regular social media content
including original text, images, and video,

●      Develop a strong social media following and presence across
platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

●      Actively engage relevant contributors and partners on all social
media platforms: liking and retweeting posts, reposting news and public
discussions relevant to gender and sexuality with commentary

●      Develop, present and participate in leading a strategic social media
plan

●      Develop and implement social media campaigns specific to
high-priority contacts identifying, following and interacting with
high-value social media influencers relevant to gender and sexuality

●      Help maintain the presentation of videos and podcasts across
multiple digital platforms

●      Find and create an image bank for social media posts

●      Provide analytic reports on SEO as needed

●      Help with various projects and tasks for relaunching sexgenlab.org


*VIDEO INTERNSHIP *

*Description*

We are seeking a talented, creative self-starter for the *Video Internship*
at sexgenlab.org. *SGL Presents* is our monthly video series in which top
scholars break down their big ideas and expertise in critical gender and
sexuality research and scholarship in short videos (3-5 minutes). SGL
Presents videos are distributed via sexgenlab.org, Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube, and other social media platforms. The intern will report to the
Director of Media and will collaborate closely with the Website Team to
participate in the organization’s new and ongoing initiatives on digital
and social media platforms. The intern will work 10 hours per week and will
post on social media multiple times per day. Interns gain experience in
conceptualizing, researching, producing and disseminating documentary-style
videos.

*Requirements*

The intern should have proven skills in the basics of video production and
editing, specifically, with Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, or iMovie.
Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus. Written and oral communication skills, as
well as creative problem solving are important. The intern should be able
to interact professionally with people from diverse backgrounds. Of prime
importance are organizational skills, and a willingness to take on any
necessary task whether creative or mundane.

*Duties and Responsibilities*

▪       Assist with remote video shoots

▪       Take primary responsibility for the development and editing of
video content in post-production

▪       Research content, music, photographs, etc. related to production.

▪       Research digital video and audience trends

▪       Compile and analyze data analytics on the six (6) national TSM (top
social media)  brands to monitor video performance on YouTube and other
social platforms

▪       Assist with outreach and ongoing contact with professionals in
videos

▪       Assist with other tasks assigned by the Director of Media as
necessary


*WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP*

*Description*

We are seeking an experienced, creative and responsible individual for
the *Website
Internship* at sexgenlab.org*.* sexgenlab.org is relaunching as a Wix
website.  The intern will report to and assist the Director of Media and
the Director of SexGenLab with final stages of development for the new
website and all aspects of maintaining the website.  The intern will focus
on strategies within and outside the site in order to enhance SEO. The
intern will work in close coordination with the SGL team in developing and
maintaining content.  The intern will work 10 hours per week with team
members producing various forms of content. The intern will gain experience
in developing and implementing strategies to enhance SEO for a non-profit
website as part of a team with a range of skill levels. They will gain
leadership and collaboration skills.

*Requirements*

The intern should have experience with the development, maintenance and
expansion of websites.  Experience working with Wix in particular is a
plus. The intern will have the ability to identify and integrate various
forms of content into a website platform, organize across multiple
categories through tagging and other strategies. Marketing/analytics
knowledge and/or experience desired;  if not, commitment to developing
these skills required. Written and oral communication skills, as well as
creative problem solving are important. The intern should be able to
interact professionally with people from diverse backgrounds. Of prime
importance are organizational skills, and a willingness to take on any
necessary task whether creative or mundane. Interest and/or experience with
working on issues of gender and sexuality is a plus.

*Duties and Responsibilities*

●      Manage and maintain a Wix website

●      Evaluate balance of types of content along specific measures

●      Develop guidelines and instructions for other team members for
posting on and managing content in a coordinated manner on website

●      Upload daily content and coordinate with with social media to upload
any posts

●      Collect images for image bank

●      Develop and maintain features of website to enhance SEO

●      Collaborate with Digital and Social Media team on SEO

●      Produce monthly report of website analytics

●      Assist with evaluation of user experience

●      Adapt website to user experience feedback

●      Ensure mobile view of website is streamlined

●      Assist with strategizing content development and audience outreach
