Student Spotlight: Zsofia Kozma, Irondale Ensemble Project

Zsófia is a senior transfer student from Hungary studying in the Hunter College Theatre Department, which is where she spends most of her time at the university. She is a 2017-18 Arts Ambassador and a recipient of the 2018 Summer Internship Award for her internship at Irondale Ensemble Project as an Education Assistant and Teaching Artist. Through the generous support of the Patty and Jay Baker Theatre Fund, stipends were awarded to select Theatre majors taking unpaid theatre internships during the summer.

Q. What led you to the summer internship at Irondale Ensemble Project
A. I was looking for my theatre home in NYC for the summer and I found it when I went to the ART/NY Theatre Internship Fair and talked to the founder of Irondale. Then I went to interview and got the offer.

Q. What was your favorite part of your experience there?
A. I loved the atmosphere of Irondale, but our teaching jobs took us to other places like the NYU School of Engineering where we taught improvisation to STEM students which was a very exciting part of the summer.

Q. What advice would you give a student who is interested in Theatre/working in theatre?
A. Sometimes you need to talk to many people to find the right ones you want to work with and sometimes they just walk into your life, but either way it’s super nice to find them.
