Carvalho Park

CARVALHO PARK launched in winter 2019 in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, by partners Jennifer Carvalho and Se Yoon Park. Visually distinctive programming features emerging artists reconsidering the distinctions between disciplines and expanding the language of form. A synthesis of the directors’ backgrounds in the realms of architecture and the performing arts, exhibitions work to activate the viewer’s environment and to shift context and categorization, allowing objects to move freely in and across the art and design landscapes

CARVALHO PARK is seeking a fall intern to work directly with the founders + directors of the young contemporary art gallery. The ideal candidate will cultivate an active role, assisting in integral operations of the gallery, both minute and overarching. The candidate should possess:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • An excellent sense of time management – especially when tasked with several time sensitive projects
  • Discretion and reliability
  • Fluency with Mac platform + Photoshop. InDesign, Illustrator, video recording + editing programs a plus
  • An eagerness to dive into it all
  • Education in art history, arts administration, curatorial studies, exhibition design, studio art, textile or industrial design preferred.

  • Maintaining the gallery’s database, Artsy + Artspace platforms
  • Image editing
  • Website updates
  • Development + industry-oriented research
  • Light art handling + coordinating shipping of work
  • Greeting gallery guests during public viewing hours

To ensure that the internship is an impactful one for both intern + gallery, we request a minimum commitment of 2 days per week for 3 months, which must be during the gallery’s public viewing days of Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Please do not apply if you cannot be at the gallery for two of those days. Please send a letter of interest, outlining why you wish to intern at a young gallery with an emerging artist program, and résumé (including proficiency in computer programs) in PDF format to: Subject line: Fall Gallery Internship
